Bradenton Christian suffered its first regular-season loss in two years Friday night in a thrilling, back-and-forth battle against Lakeside Christian School. The game truly felt like a championship environment, with both teams playing hard, physical football from start to finish.

Both defenses came ready to play, creating multiple huge turnovers that shifted momentum throughout the game. Our offense continued to fight and battled back to tie the game in the fourth quarter, setting up an exciting finish.

After multiple punts and turnovers by both teams in the fourth quarter, the game headed into overtime. Each team was given four plays from the 10-yard line to score. BCS took the field first and quickly found the end zone, but a miscommunication on the PAT resulted in an unsuccessful attempt.

Lakeside answered with a quick touchdown of its own, leaving the game down to a PAT — a conversion for the win or a defensive stop to force a second overtime. Unfortunately, things didn’t go the way we had planned, and Lakeside converted the game-winning extra point.

Although the result wasn’t what we wanted, our team showed tremendous fight, toughness, and resilience in a game that came down to the final play.

We’ll regroup, learn from it, and get back to work.
